If I were to put it into words, R6C1 would be distributed scan -> gauntlet -> wave defense -> distributed scan -> stealth section (with scan) -> wave defense -> T scan. The distributed simple scans are a lot more engaging (for me) than the unmoving single point defense ones. They were good for their time (mostly), but with each new rundown we see improved storytelling better qol (stuff like forward spawns being mitigated, etc), better usage of mechanics introduced in the previous rundown (stuff like teleportation in r6 being used a lot, optionals in r4 being spammed in every level).Ī common argument I see for people wanting older content for example is that they want to experience the old stuff, and what the game's roots come from etc yada yada.

Not that R6C1 was a bad level either, but using your words, R6C1 is basically: simple alarm -> static wave defence (in a desert cave) -> 2 minute stealth section -> Slightly longer static wave defence -> simple alarm -> finish.Īnd like you said, different strokes for different people, but you get the same experience of R6C1 as you would in R7B3 secondary.
